Live show by singer-songwriter Heidi Curtis, who blends rock, indie and folk, at Hyde Park Book Club.
Heidi Curtis plays Hyde Park Book Club on Tuesday 20 October, starting at 7:30 pm. It's a headline show presented by Futuresound Events, and she'll be fronting her own full band for the night.
Curtis is a singer-songwriter from North Shields who pulls together rock, indie and folk to build her own sound. The influences she lists give a good sense of where that sits: Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley and Florence + the Machine. It's a mix that leans into the melodic and the vocal, and she's known for a powerful voice and lyrics that hold their own. With a tight band behind her, the set should have a proper full-band weight to it rather than sitting as a solo acoustic affair.
If you're not familiar with her, that list of names is a useful starting point. You've got the classic songwriting of Fleetwood Mac, the theatricality of Kate Bush and Florence + the Machine, and the raw, emotive side of Jeff Buckley. It's a broad spread, but they all share a focus on the voice as the lead, which is exactly where Curtis puts her emphasis.

The gig is in the Main Room at Hyde Park Book Club, which holds up to 150, so it's a decent-sized space for a headline set. Tickets are £13.50, which includes the booking fee. The night starts at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 20 October at Hyde Park Book Club, 27-29 Headingley Lane, Leeds, LS6 1BL.
