Family-friendly drop-in session with shadow drawing, puppet theatre and a disco in the dark, part of the museum's October Half-Term 'Glow In The Dark Week'.
Leeds City Museum is hosting a Glow in the Dark Family Day on Tuesday 27 October, from 10:00 to 15:00. It's a drop-in session, so you don't need to book a slot — you just turn up when it suits you and stay as long as you like. The museum is encouraging everyone to come along in neon or bright coloured clothing, which fits the whole light-and-dark theme of the day.
There's a fair bit to get stuck into. The morning and afternoon are built around shadow drawing, puppet theatre and a disco in the dark, so it's a mix of making things and just letting the kids run around. Because it's a drop-in, you can pick and choose what to do rather than following a set timetable. If you've got little ones, the museum is well-equipped for them: there are hands-on exhibits, mini dig zones, the Voices of Asia gallery and Toddler Town, so there's plenty to keep them occupied even when you're not at the main activities.
The day is part of the museum's wider October Half-Term 'Glow In The Dark Week', which runs from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, so if you can't make the Tuesday, there's more going on around it. The museum itself sits right in the heart of the city and has previously won the national Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Award, which gives you a good sense of the kind of place it is.
