Free exhibition of Gathered Colour, a community textile artwork, and Natural Colour Atlas, a collaboration on natural colour across West Yorkshire and Indonesia.
Gathered Colour and Natural Colour Atlas open at Patrick Studios on Friday 16 October, with the opening night running from 5pm to 8pm and artist talks on the evening. After that, the exhibition stays on display from Saturday 17 to Sunday 25 October, 10am to 4:30pm, with viewings by appointment.
Gathered Colour is a community project led by textile artist and printmaker Kirstie Williams, looking at the links between plants, colour, creativity and community across Leeds. She's worked with Leeds Print Workshop, Pyramid of Arts, Stitch-Up CIC and MAFWA Theatre, running planting sessions, natural dyeing workshops and plant-based printing sessions with local community groups. All those contributions have been brought together into one large collaborative textile artwork. The project is supported by Leeds City Council's Cultural Development Programme and forms part of Leeds 400.
Alongside it is Natural Colour Atlas, a collaboration between Kirstie Williams, Nidiya Kusmaya and Bintan Titisari. It follows personal and collective journeys with natural colour between West Yorkshire and West Java, Indonesia, and how climate, landscape, culture and heritage shape colour identity across the two regions. Part one showed in Bandung in September 2026, with support from the British Council's Connections Through Culture programme.
