Comedy show by Finley Christie at The Wardrobe.
Finley Christie is playing The Wardrobe on Sunday 25 October. It's a comedy show, with Christie as the main feature, and it's taking place in the heart of Leeds city centre.
If you've come across his name before, it's probably from the telly. He's performed on Live at the Apollo and appeared on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Have I Got News For You — the kind of credits that put him in the company of the big names on the circuit. This is a live show, though, so you'll see him doing his thing on stage rather than in a pre-recorded segment.
The venue is The Wardrobe, on St Peter's Square in Quarry Hill. It opened in 1999 and has become one of the city's longest-running independent venues, putting on over 250 live shows a year across two stages. The decor is a nod to 1950s New York industrialism, with a street-level café bar and restaurant and a basement club that's meant to evoke a smoky New York jazz club. It's family-owned and has hosted a wide range of acts over the years, including Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, Tony Allen, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Autechre, Robert Glasper, Soweto Kinch and Theo Parrish.
