Live gig by the folk-blues and Americana duo Ferris & Sylvester at the Brudenell Social Club.
Ferris & Sylvester play the Brudenell Social Club on Sunday 1 November, with doors opening at 19:30. They'll be joined by guests on the bill, so there's more than one act to catch that evening. The show is in the Brudenell Community Room, at 33 Queens Road, LS6 1NY.
If you haven't come across them, Ferris & Sylvester are a husband-and-wife duo, Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester. They've spent the last ten years writing, recording and performing together through their own label, Archtop Records. They first met as solo musicians at London's Spiritual Bar, and their sound sits across folk, blues, soul and Americana, with honest storytelling at the centre of it. Their 2018 debut EP Made In Streatham was recorded in their kitchen and reached number one on the iTunes Singer Songwriter chart, while also topping Spotify's UK Virals chart. Rolling Stone called it "dreamy, deceptively lovely folk-pop" with a "gorgeously dusky singing voice and immaculate harmonies", and the magazine named them one of its "Americana Acts To Watch" in 2019.
Since then, they've moved on to full albums. Superhuman, released in 2022, debuted at number one on the UK Official Blues Chart and won UK Album of the Year at the 2023 UK Americana Awards. Otherness, which came out in 2024, topped both the UK Official Folk and Americana charts, and that same year they put out their third album, It's A Joy To Be Alive. Between the early kitchen recordings and the more recent chart-toppers, there's a fair bit of material to draw from for a live set.
