Beginner charcoal drawing workshop led by the artist, with a tour of the Charcoal North exhibition, at Bowery on Otley Road.
Bowery is hosting a three-hour charcoal workshop on Saturday 24 October, from 10am to 1pm, as part of the Coastal-scapes in Charcoal exhibition. The session is led by the artist behind the work, who starts with a tour of the exhibition, talking through the background of the drawings, the source images they used, and the techniques that went into them. Once that's done, you'll apply what you've picked up to build your own charcoal skills using reference images provided on the day.
It's pitched as perfect for beginners eager to explore charcoal drawing, though it's adaptable to all confidence levels, so you don't need to be an experienced artist to get involved. The workshop runs in parallel with Charcoal North's exhibition, which hangs at Bowery from 1 September to 8 November, so if you're already planning to drop by and see the work, this is a good way to spend a morning with it. Paper, charcoal, and erasers are all provided, so you just need to turn up.
