Five-week printmaking course held on Thursdays at the Leeds Print Workshop, a not-for-profit printmaking co-operative.
Leeds Print Workshop is running a five-week printmaking course this autumn, with sessions on Thursday evenings from 18:00 to 20:30. It runs from 24 September to 22 October, so you'll be in there once a week for a good stretch of the season.
If you've never stepped foot in a print studio, it's a fair place to start. The course is called Discover Printmaking, and as the name suggests, it's an introduction to the craft rather than a masterclass for the experienced. Over the five weeks, you'll get a handle on the basics of printmaking, working through the process in a group setting. It's a slow-burn way to pick up a new skill, with each session building on the last rather than trying to cram everything into a single weekend.
It helps to know what the workshop is. Leeds Print Workshop is a membership-based, not-for-profit printmaking co-operative and studio in the centre of Leeds, open to anyone with an interest in print. They run workshops and courses in a range of traditional printmaking processes and offer facility access to their members, all driven by a mission to provide an affordable and accessible workshop space. It's a working studio, not just a classroom, so you're learning in a place where people actually make things.

Location-wise, it's easy to get to. The studio is at Patrick Studios, Leeds LS9 7EH, a short walk from the city's train and bus stations, so you don't need a car to make it in for a Thursday night session. The course costs £70.00 for the full five weeks.
