Free drop-in session with the historical dance group The Arbeau Dancers, where visitors dance the way people would have in the Victorian period.
The Arbeau Dancers are taking over the Victorian Street at Abbey House Museum on Saturday 28 November, from 12:00 to 15:00. It's a drop-in session, so you can just turn up and join in whenever you fancy, rather than committing to a fixed start time.
The Arbeau Dancers are a historical dance group whose repertoire covers about 600 years of dance, and for this afternoon they're focusing on the Victorian era. The whole point is to get you onto the museum's Victorian Street and dance the way people would have back then. They'll be leading the way with lively Scottish tunes, waltzes, quadrilles and polkas, and the session is timed for the start of the festive period, so it's a good way to kick off the Christmas season.
It's run as a free drop-in activity, and it's family-friendly, so you can bring the kids along. You don't need any previous experience to take partβyou just turn up and join in. If you've never danced a quadrille or a polka in your life, that's fine; they'll be leading the way, and the whole thing is about having a go rather than getting it perfect.
