Free festive workshop to make fabric rag wreaths for Christmas at Abbey House Museum in Kirkstall.
Abbey House Museum is running a Christmas Rag Rug Wreath Workshop on Thursday 3 December, from 14:30 to 16:30. It's a two-hour session where you make a fabric rag wreath for Christmas, and it's free to attend.
If you haven't spent much time there, the museum is in Kirkstall and is set up as an interactive Victorian experience. The ground floor is Stephen Harding Gate, a 19th-century version of a modern high street, and the back streets open onto the home of the window washer woman and the Sunday School. Upstairs are the Childhood and Community Galleries, which hold a collection of authentic toys. Just across the road, in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey — one of the most complete Cistercian ruins in the country — is the Abbey Cafe.
The museum runs a regular programme of family-friendly sessions, school holiday activities, adult study days, curator talks and community events, and the venue is also available for filming and photography. This workshop is part of their festive line-up, which includes Festive Felt Christmas Decorations and Festive Lino Printing.
