Workshop led by picture book illustrator Rich Gemmell in which under-14s make their own mini picture book with a parent or guardian.
Rich Gemmell is running a children's illustration workshop at Morley Live CIC on Saturday 7 November, from 9:00 to 10:30 am. It's part of the Morley Literature Festival, which Morley Live is hosting this year. The venue itself is a community hub in the Morley area of Leeds, known for live music, comedy and cultural events, with a capacity of around 150.
Gemmell is a picture book illustrator who lives and works in rural Northamptonshire. He's been illustrating for over 15 years, working for clients like The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Hodder and Bloomsbury, and he's put out around 20 children's picture books since 2019. During the session, attendees make their own mini picture book, following it from the first sketch through to a finished book, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how a picture book actually comes together.

It's a morning session, so it's one of those things you can get sorted before the rest of the day kicks in. The workshop runs for an hour and a half, from 9:00 to 10:30 am, and costs £4. Under-14s need to attend with a parent or legal guardian, so it's set up as something to do with your kids. You'll find Morley Live CIC at 1 Beryl Burton Gardens, Morley LS27 9FN.
