Beatles Complete

Beatles Complete are playing Stylus on Friday 23 October, a tribute show dedicated to the Beatles. The venue is Stylus, part of the University Union on Lifton Place in Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9JZ.

The name gives away the whole point: they're not just picking through the well-known hits. The set draws from the Beatles' entire catalogue, so you'll hear the early Merseybeat songs alongside the later, more experimental records. It's a full run through the years rather than a greatest hits package, which means the deeper cuts get as much room as the ones everyone knows. If you've spent as much time with the B-sides and the album tracks as you have with the singles, that's where the show does its heavy lifting.

It's a tribute act, so the focus is on the songs themselves. The Beatles' discography is a long one, and the band works their way across it, from the early days to the final recordings. The set is built around that breadth, so the evening moves through the different eras of the band's career rather than sticking to one particular period. It's a good way to hear the whole run of things in one go, from the early pop to the later, more complex arrangements.

The show starts at 19:30 on Friday 23 October at Stylus, in the University Union on Lifton Place, Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9JZ.
