Exhibition by four recent graduates of the Accelerator Bursary, titled RUST, at Assembly House in Armley.
RUST is on show at Assembly House in Armley until Sunday 18 October, the latest exhibition from the Accelerator Bursary. It's a free show, and if you're around the west of the city this week, it's an easy one to drop into.
The work comes out of the Accelerator Bursary, a scheme funded by the Leeds Art Fund — which has been backing the arts in Leeds since 1912 — and run by Leeds Art Gallery in partnership with Assembly House. Now in its second year, it runs from January to December each year, with open calls for artists in the autumn. It's open to Fine Art, Design, or photography BA or MA graduates from Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Arts University, and the University of Leeds who graduated the previous year.
Selected through a competitive open call, the three artists share a large studio at Assembly House, complete with desks, storage, a paint sink, and a private heated room in the building's turret. Along with studio access and technical support, the bursary includes monthly mentoring sessions with Leeds Art Gallery curators, free hire of the project space, and a chance to show work in the gallery's Central Court. RUST is the result of that year of working and mentoring.
