A Certain Ratio celebrate the anniversary of their classic albums Sextet and Force with a live tour, playing both albums in full with an interval.
A Certain Ratio play Brudenell Social Club on Saturday 17 October, as part of a tour marking the anniversary of Sextet and Force. They're playing both albums in full, split across two sets with an interval in between, and there's no support act on the bill.
Formed in Manchester, A Certain Ratio fuse post-punk with indie rock, disco and funk, and were among the first bands to release on Factory Records in the 1980s. Both Sextet (1982) and Force (1986) were recorded in Stockport. Sextet was cut at Revolution Studios in Cheadle Hulme; it's their most critically acclaimed album and their first under the ACR name, home to 'Lucinda' and the live favourite 'Knife Slits Water'. Force was produced by the band and the late Stuart (Jammer) James, their last release on Factory, and brought 'Mickey Way' and the party favourite 'Si Firmo O Grido'. Both sat high on the UK independent charts.

After a twelve-year hiatus, the band returned in 2020 with ACR Loco, an exploration of post-Brexit Britain. This show, however, looks back to those two records from the eighties. With no support, the night is a double bill of their own material: Sextet in one set, Force in the other, with a break between them. Doors are at 19:30 at Brudenell, 33 Queen's Road, Headingley, and tickets are £26 in advance for standing.
