Gourmet pizza created by Drue Tranquill, with proceeds benefiting Operation Breakthrough, available weekly during the football season.
The Tranquilo Crunch returns to Minsky's on Sunday, October 11, and it'll be available there every day through December 27. It's a gourmet pizza created by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill as a tribute to his Italian heritage, and this is its third run—Tranquill is bringing it back for a third year.
If you haven't had it, here's what's on it: Italian sausage, American sausage, capocollo, and ground beef, topped with Wisconsin mozzarella, pepperoni, and a dusting of Romano and oregano. The whole thing sits on a one-of-a-kind Italian-seasoned Panko 'Crunch' crust. It's billed as Kansas City's Game Day Pizza, and it's run by Tranquill in partnership with Minsky's and the Hunt Family Foundation.
There's a charitable side to it, too. Every pizza ordered during the pro football season benefits Operation Breakthrough, a local not-for-profit started in 1971 by Sister Corita Bussanmas and Sister Berta Sailer. It's been serving Kansas City families for over 40 years, and the partnership has raised more than $170,000 for the cause so far. So, if you're ordering a pizza to watch the game, a portion of it goes back into the community.
