Folk-rock and indie rock concert by The Takes, with support from Barefoot Cult and Lovely Idea, at the miniBar venue.
The Takes play miniBar on Monday, October 12, with Barefoot Cult and Lovely Idea opening. The Takes are a folk-rock group from Portland, Oregon, fronted by Sumner Rahr on guitar and vocals, Guido Rahr on guitar, and Phoebe Webb on bass. They've built a following around a sound that draws on the roots of rock, and this Kansas City date is presented by miniBar.
They're touring their third EP, Uprooting Roses, which came out May 1, 2026, and was produced with David Baron. Before that, they released the single "Take My Time" in the summer of 2025, produced by Jon Gilbert. The EP that came before both, 2024's Lay Hold, leaned into the band's country and blues rock tendencies. Between those releases, they've played debut sets at Bonnaroo, BottleRock, and Extra Innings Fest, and sold out headline dates at New York City's Mercury Lounge, as well as shows in Chicago and Colorado Springs. They've supported The Runarounds across the US and shared stages with Houndmouth, Wilderado, Briscoe, and Penelope Road, amassing more than 3.5 million career streams.
