Annual South Kansas City block party with local artist tents, food, live music, a 5K run, and kid-friendly activities.
The South KC Block Party returns to the Red Bridge Shopping Center on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 3 PM. It's the ninth year the party has come to the center, presented by Red Bridge and organized by Art Garden KC with support from the South KC Chamber of Commerce. Cable-Dahmer Automotive Group is the presenting sponsor.
Most of the day centers on around 100 tents from local artists, crafters, businesses, non-profits, and community organizations. There's live music throughout, with performances from area students and dueling pianos from Big Time Entertainment. For the active crowd, the Center Education Foundation is running a 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run. The kids' side of things includes a caricature artist, face painting, balloon art, games, and touch-a-trucks—with a KCFD fire truck on site from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Food comes from a mix of Red Bridge restaurants and food trucks. Caleb's Breakfast & Lunch, Daily Limit, Barrio, Crows Coffee, Sweet Granada, and Farm Fresh Market are all on the list, along with Kona Ice and Sweet Peaches trucks. The organizers describe it as family-friendly fall fun, with the day built around supporting local businesses and makers.
