Free screening of the horror-comedy 'Army of Darkness' as part of the ShockCentral film group's monthly scary-movie series, followed by a relaxed discussion.
Army of Darkness screens at the Central Library on Sunday, October 11, at 2 PM. The screening is part of the ShockCentral film group's monthly scary-movie series, which brings a horror title to the library once a month. After the movie, there's a short, relaxed discussion hosted by library staff Tori and Cullen, so you can talk through the film with whoever else stayed behind.
The venue is one of the library's better-kept secrets: the Durwood Film Vault is an original bank vault converted into a 28-seat movie theater inside the Central Library. It's a small room, and because there are only 28 seats, it's first come, first served with no reservations. If you want a spot, you'll want to get there early. Seating begins at 1:45 PM, fifteen minutes before the movie starts.
Army of Darkness is the third film in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series, the one that takes the horror of the first two and leans hard into the camp and the comedy. It's the one where Ash, the series' reluctant hero, ends up in the Middle Ages fighting an army of the dead. The program is intended for adults.
