Screening of the 2024 film 'Kemba' by Kemba Smith Pradia, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Kemba Smith Pradia is coming to the Central Library on Thursday, October 15, for a screening and discussion of her 2024 film, Kemba. It's a personal project, and she'll be here in Kansas City to present it and talk with the audience afterward.
The film is built around Pradia's own experience as a college student whose partner turned out to be an abusive drug dealer. She wrote the story from that first-hand account, and the screening is just one part of the evening—the second half is a Q&A where she'll take questions from the crowd. It's a chance to hear the story directly from the person who lived it and wrote it, rather than just watching it on screen.

Pradia is an author and public speaker, and she's traveling to Kansas City specifically for this event. The whole thing is hosted at the Central Library, so it's right in the city. The screening starts at 6 PM on Thursday, October 15.
