A cross-platform show blending funk, jazz, hip hop and soul to celebrate and remix classic and modern video game music themes, presented by The Ship.
Kadesh Flow and Ohm-I are bringing their collaborative project, Cross Platform, to The Ship on Friday, October 16. It's a joint bill with special guests Coolzey and Schaffer the Darklord, and the whole thing is presented by the venue.
If you're not familiar with the two at the center of it, here's the breakdown. Kadesh Flow—known to listeners as Desh—is a rapper, trombonist, and producer who blends jazz and hip-hop backgrounds. He started rapping and playing trombone within two weeks of each other at age 11, and he's worked on records with Jidenna and Strange Music's Ubiquitous and JL. He's also a sought-after studio trombonist, heard on Jidenna's 85 to Africa and Strange Music's Under Bad Influence. 90.9 The Bridge has called him a "trombone Super Saiyan."
Ohm-I is a rapper and saxophonist in The Dead Bettys. Together, they've built Cross Platform around a specific idea: weaving funk, jazz, hip-hop, and soul to celebrate, interpolate, and remix classic and modern video game music themes. It's a project that pulls from both their instrumental and rapping sides, and they're bringing it to the stage with Coolzey and Schaffer the Darklord added to the bill.
