Monthly health fair with health organizations offering free services, resources, and referrals to the community.
The Community Health Fair is back at the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Tuesday, October 13, from 11 AM to 1 PM. It's a monthly event, so if you miss this one, there's usually another one coming around soon. The setup is simple: health organizations from across the city gather in one room to offer free health services, resources, and referrals to programs. It's the kind of thing that's easier to do in one stop than in five separate appointments.
The venue itself is worth a bit of context. The North-East Branch is a fixture in Kansas City's Historic Northeast neighborhood, which has a large immigrant population and a growing number of young professionals. It's one of the most linguistically diverse communities in the city—about 55 languages spoken among its 9,000 residents—and the branch houses the system's primary collection of materials in Spanish and other world languages. The library dates back to 1914, when it was housed in Northeast High School; in 1986, it combined with the East and Blue Valley locations to form the North-East Branch, and it moved into its current building three years later. The facility underwent extensive renovation during the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened in 2021.

Because the branch serves such a diverse neighborhood, the health fair fits right in. It brings together organizations from all over Kansas City, so you're not just dealing with one provider. You'll find free health services, resources, and referrals to other programs, all in the same space. It's a low-pressure way to get a check-up or find a resource you've been putting off. The fair runs from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, October 13, at the North-East Branch, 6000 Wilson Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64123.
