Training session by the QPR Institute to provide practical suicide prevention skills, run in person by the Latinx Education Collaborative.
Be the Difference: QPR Suicide Prevention Training is coming to 2301 Lexington Avenue on Wednesday, October 14, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a two-hour session run by the Latinx Education Collaborative, and it's open to anyone 18 and older.
The training comes from the QPR Institute, and the whole thing is built around a few practical skills. You'll learn how to recognize the warning signs that someone might be thinking about suicide, and you'll get a handle on the role stigma plays in why people don't always ask for help. The session frames suicide as a public health issue rather than something to be handled in secret.
Beyond the warning signs, there's a focus on what to actually do when you're worried about someone. You'll learn how to offer hope and support, how to connect people to local and national resources, and the concrete steps needed to get them the help they need. It's less about theory and more about what to say and where to turn when it matters.

It's an in-person session, so you'll be in the room with other people rather than watching a screen. The Latinx Education Collaborative is running it, and it's open to anyone 18 and over. Just a heads-up: childcare isn't provided, so you'll need to have that sorted if you're bringing kids along. The training runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at 2301 Lexington Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64124.
