Lecture by Katherine Freese within the Woods Lecture Series at the Butler Arts Center.
Katherine Freese is coming to the Butler Arts Center on Friday, October 23, at 7 PM. Her appearance is part of the Woods Lecture Series, which the center hosts as one of its featured programs.
If you're not familiar with the space, the Butler Arts Center's anchor is Clowes Memorial Hall, a 2,123-seat venue that's been around for 53 years. It's one of Indiana's most versatile professional stages, and over those five decades it's welcomed names like Maya Angelou, Jimmy Fallon, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Itzhak Perlman, Wynton Marsalis, and Sir Elton John. The complex also includes the Schrott Center for the Arts, which opened in 2013. That's a smaller, 475-seat facility designed for students and the community, with acoustics and sightlines optimized for music, dance, and theatre. Depending on the specific setup for the lecture, you might find yourself in the main hall or in one of the other spaces within the complex.

Freese is the sole feature of the evening, and the talk falls under the Woods Lecture Series, which brings speakers to the center for public presentations. It's a straightforward setup: one speaker, one night, and a chance to hear her talk in person. The event is in Indianapolis, so it's an easy trip if you're already in the city. The lecture starts at 7 PM on Friday, October 23, at the Butler Arts Center.
