The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs works by composer Kenji Bunch at the University of Indianapolis, with the composer in attendance.
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is taking a night off from its usual home for a special program at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center on Monday, February 15, 2027. The whole evening is built around Kenji Bunch, who's the ISO's 'Composer in the Spotlight' for the 2026/27 season, and the composer himself is expected to be in the audience.
Rather than the full orchestra, the program features ISO musicians performing a selection of Bunch's work. The music spans his career, so you'll hear pieces from different periods of his writing rather than just his most recent stuff. The set is built from a handful of instruments—flute, clarinet, percussion, viola, and piano trio—paired in different combinations throughout the night. That means the sound shifts from one piece to the next, moving between solo work and small ensembles.

It's a different kind of ISO night: a smaller group of musicians, a program focused on a single composer's body of work, and the composer there to hear it. The concert is at the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center at the University of Indianapolis, 1400 E. Hanna Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227. It starts at 7 PM, and admission is free.
