Free all-ages jamband show headlined by Taper's Choice with supporting act Shrunken Elvis at HI-FI in Fountain Square.
Taper's Choice plays HI-FI on Thursday, October 29, with Shrunken Elvis opening. The show is presented by IndyMojo Presents, and it's an all-ages night, so you can bring whoever you want.
Taper's Choice is a jamband, which tells you a bit about what to expect: long, improvisational stretches and a set that breathes rather than sticks to a tight list of songs. Shrunken Elvis takes the first slot, so there's a full bill to work through. If you're not already familiar with the jamband thing, it's the kind of music that lets the songs stretch out and wander, with the band playing off each other in the moment rather than sticking to a fixed arrangement.
HI-FI is inside the historic Murphy Arts Center, right in the heart of Fountain Square. It's a room that books shows virtually every night of the week and has a reputation for finding new artists on the rise. It's also cited as one of the best-sounding rooms in the Midwest, which is a nice thing to have in your corner when you're dealing with a band that likes to jam and let things open up. If you've spent any time around Fountain Square, you know the area—plenty of spots to grab a drink or a bite before and after.

Doors open at 7 PM, and the show is free. Since it's all ages, it's an easy one to bring friends along to. Between the two bands on the bill and the room they're playing in, there's plenty to hear over the course of the night.
