Free storytime session for children aged 2 to 6 and their caregivers with Professor Watermelon at the Eagle Branch.
Professor Watermelon is leading storytime at the Indianapolis Public Library - Eagle Branch on Friday, October 23, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. It's a session for children aged 2 to 6 and their caregivers, part of the library's wider baby and toddler storytime program. The library frames these sessions as a way for the youngest children to develop physical skills, early language, and early literacy, while strengthening the bond between parent or caregiver and child.
The session is made possible by the Everwise Foundation through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. It's one of the many storytimes the library runs for babies and toddlers across its branches, so if you've been to one before, you know the drill: stories, songs, and a bit of movement to keep the little ones engaged.
Eagle Branch itself has a long history in the neighborhood. It dates back to 1960, when a storefront branch opened at 30th Street and Lafayette Roadβthe first branch in the system located in a shopping center. A stand-alone facility at 3325 Lowry Road opened in 1970 with 12,000 square feet, and on June 1, 2019, it was replaced by the current 20,000-square-foot building at 3905 Moller Road, which is where this session takes place.
