A storytime session for babies up to 24 months and their caregivers, featuring stories, songs, fingerplays and playtime.
Storytime for Babies is back at the College Avenue Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Friday, November 27, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a session for babies up to 24 months and an adult, so you'll be right there with your little one throughout the hour.
The program pairs stories, songs, and fingerplays with a playtime session just for babies. The first half is the reading and singing part—the kind of thing that gets them listening and reacting—and the second half is a dedicated time for them to just play. It's designed for the under-two crowd, so it's a good spot if you're looking for something that actually fits that age range rather than a general children's hour.
If you're not familiar with the branch, it's at 4180 North College Avenue. The building has a bit of a history behind it: it traces back to the Broadway Branch, which started in 1924 in a frame house on East 42nd Street. That moved into a 6,500-square-foot facility on Broadway Street in 1958, and when that one got too small and outdated, it was replaced in August 2000 by the current 16,000-square-foot building on College Avenue, which took the name. It's a full-sized library branch, so you can hang around and browse the shelves before or after the session.
