Indianapolis singer Stephanie Allen-Stevenson blends gospel, soul, jazz and R&B, with classics by Nancy Wilson and Ella Fitzgerald and a tribute to Phyllis Hyman.
Stephanie Allen-Stevenson plays The Jazz Kitchen on Friday, October 30, with her band Composition. It's an evening of soul, jazz, and R&B, and she's an Indianapolis native, so this is a local singer performing in her own city.
Her singing comes from a Gospel foundation and reaches across a wide variety of genres. The set mixes new material with classics by Nancy Wilson and Ella Fitzgerald, and includes a tribute to the late Phyllis Hyman. She performs live with her band, Composition.
Beyond her own work, she's a support vocalist, performing as J'Sol for The Jim Irsay Collection Band. In that role, she's shared stages with Buddy Guy, Stephen Stills, Billy Gibbons, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and John Mellencamp. She was also signed to Strictly Rhythm Records, where her hit "Let It Go" became a house music classic throughout Europe.
