Introduction to internet basics computer class for seniors at the Spades Park branch of the Indianapolis Public Library.
Internet Basics is coming to the Spades Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Tuesday, November 3, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's an introductory computer class that walks you through the basics of using the internet, and it's part of the library's computer and technology program for seniors.
If you've been wanting to get more comfortable with the web but didn't know where to start, this is exactly that kind of session. It's an hour-long introduction, so it's a low-pressure way to get a handle on the fundamentals without feeling like you're in over your head. Since it's geared toward seniors, you'll be in a room with people who are likely starting from the same place you are.
The class is held at the Spades Park Branch, which is one of the city's remaining Carnegie libraries. It was built with a $120,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, just six months after the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot building went through a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its centenary in 2012, so it's a spot with a fair bit of history behind it.
