Kentucky singer-songwriter Hunter Flynn brings his 'Appalachian Soul Music' to HI-FI in Fountain Square for a stop on his 'Back to My Roots Tour'.
Hunter Flynn plays HI-FI on Monday, November 9, as part of his Back to My Roots Tour, presented by MOKB Presents. The Kentucky-born singer-songwriter and visual artist draws heavily on Appalachian culture, and this stop in Indianapolis is one of the dates on the road this year.
Flynn's music career started in early 2022, after he survived a life-altering car accident. He describes the work that followed as rooted in authenticity and vulnerability, blending folk, country, soul and gospel into a sound he calls 'Appalachian Soul Music'. His debut EP, Appalachian Soul, came out in May 2023, and it's the record that carries the name of the style he's built around.
He's spent the last few years gaining ground in his home region. In 2023, he was the Featured Artist at the Master Musicians Festival in Somerset, Kentucky, and in 2025 he was named Artist in Residence at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. On stage, he's shared bills with Zach Top, Wyatt Flores, Jamie Johnson, Larry Fleet and Jackson Dean.

Beyond the music, Flynn is an accomplished visual artist. He's known for charcoal portraits that explore memory, loss and the human condition, and that same focus on loss and vulnerability runs through the songs he's playing on this tour. The Indianapolis show is at HI-FI, inside the historic Murphy Arts Center at 1043 Virginia Ave #4 in Fountain Square. Doors open at 7 PM and the music starts at 8 PM.
