Recent Cutbacks' shot-for-shot live parody of Jurassic Park, with two actors and a Foley artist recreating the film on stage.
Hold On To Your Butts comes to the Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 4, 2027, at 7:30 PM. It's a shot-for-shot live parody of Jurassic Park produced by Recent Cutbacks, and the whole thing is carried by just two actors and a Foley artist. The premise is as straightforward as it sounds: they recreate the movie on stage, beat for beat, using cardboard cutouts for the dinosaurs and same-beat impersonations of the characters. The sound effects are done live by the Foley artist, so you're watching the movie being built in real time right in front of you.
On stage, Jay Dunn and Natalie Rich handle the acting, with Kelly Robinson on Foley. It's a two-person show that has to cover a lot of ground, and the whole thing is directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker. The production is a tour-de-force of comedy, physical theatre, and live Foley, and it's been getting some strong reviews along the way. Theatre Weekly called it a "non-stop laugh fest," and Stage to Page described it as a "chaotic masterpiece."

Before it hit the road, the show had its debuts in the West End and Off-Broadway, and it's now touring North America. The Indianapolis stop is part of that run, bringing the same setup to the Midtown Arts District. It's recommended for ages 8 and up, so it works as a family outing if you've got kids who know the movie. The performance starts at 7:30 PM at the Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts.
