Spooky showcase of original short plays by young writers of the Playwriting Lab, staged as readings for Halloween at the Fonseca Theater.
Fonseca Theatre is running Ghouls & Giggles on October 24 and 25 at the C.H. Douglas & Gray Wealth Management Stage, 2508 W. Michigan St. in Indianapolis. It's a showcase of original short plays written by the young writers of the Playwriting Lab, who worked alongside professional theatre artists in collaboration with The New Harmony Project. The plays are staged as readings, so you'll hear the scripts read aloud rather than seeing a fully blocked production.
The bill brings together four different pieces. Ready or Not is by Kirya Traber; Our Dear Dead Drug Lord is by Alexis Scheer and directed by Carlos Medina Maldonado; The Niceties is by Eleanor Burgess and directed by Gari Williams; and Late Nite TV is by Sondra Gunn. The plays are described as imaginative tales filled with mystery and mischief, timed to the spooky season and Halloween. Because they're readings, the focus stays on the writing and the voices bringing it to life.
