World premiere of 4th Wall's original fantasy romance play, a gothic horror story about a young girl with magical talent who becomes a wizard's apprentice.
4th Wall is bringing Moira Rising to the Fonseca Theatre on Friday, November 13, and Sunday, November 15. It's the world premiere of an original play, a fantasy romance that sits inside the company's gothic horror universe. For 4th Wall, it's a bit of a milestone: their first non-adaptation, co-authored by Josh and Katherine Gibson.
The story follows Moira, an adventurous young girl born with a natural talent for magic. She begins an apprenticeship with a charming wizard, a step that forces her to leave her humble beginnings behind for her studies. It's a fantasy romance at its core, and it works as a backstory for an original character introduced in the company's previous adaptations, broadening the mystical world they first opened up with Beauty and the Beast: Not Your Parents' Fairy Tale.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind before you go. The play references abuse and murder, though nothing graphic or gory, and it isn't recommended for children under 13. If you've followed 4th Wall's work before, this is the first time they're stepping away from adapting existing stories to tell one of their own.
