Free game session run by the Indianapolis Public Library for children aged 10 and under, with games provided.
Game Time is back at the East 38th Street Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, November 11, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's a game session run by the library, and they provide the games, so you don't have to bring your own from home. If you're bringing kids aged 10 and under, they'll need a grown-up with them.
It's a low-stakes way to spend an hour in the middle of the week. Since the library handles the games, you just show up and play. If you've got a group of friends or family you've been meaning to get together with, this is a good excuse to do it without having to clear out your own shelves first.
The branch itself has a bit of a history in the neighborhood. It's the current version of a library that's been serving the area since 1957, when it opened as the Emerson Branch—a frame house near East 38th Street and North Emerson Avenue. That first spot proved too small pretty quickly, which led to a 7,500-square-foot branch built in 1962. The Emerson Branch finally closed in 2003 when the present 16,000-square-foot library opened as the East Thirty-Eighth Street Branch.
