Free Independence Day street festival with food trucks, a Kids Zone, live music and a fireworks show over downtown Indianapolis.
Downtown Indy Fourth Fest returns to American Legion Mall on Sunday, July 4, 2027, for Indianapolis's free Independence Day street festival and fireworks show. It's held on the mall and the surrounding Indiana War Memorial grounds, with the fireworks visible across the north edge of downtown.
The evening street festival draws the city's crowds, with food trucks, a Kids Zone, and live music on the North Street stage. It's a family-friendly setup that runs throughout the evening, and the organizers expect more than 25,000 people to show up. The fireworks launch around 10:15 PM from atop the 500 North Meridian building and run for about 20 minutes. If you can't make it in person, the show is streamed live via the FOX59 Now app on Roku, Apple TV, and Firestick.

The mall and grounds open as an open lawn with limited seating, so bringing your own blanket or chair is a good call. Downtown lots and street parking near the War Memorial fill fast on the evening of the 4th, so arriving early or planning your route ahead of time will save you some stress. Entry is free, and no ticket is required.
