Comedian and author David Nihill brings his stand-up show 'Taking Tangents' to the Shelton Auditorium in Indianapolis.
David Nihill brings his new show, Taking Tangents, to Shelton Auditorium on Saturday, January 30, 2027. It's a stand-up set that draws on his years of travel, and if you've never seen him before, the background explains a lot of where the material comes from.
Nihill was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, and has since lived and worked in twelve countries and visited more than eighty. That's a lot of ground to cover, and it's exactly what he pulls from for Taking Tangents. He's a comedian and an author, and the two sides of his work tend to feed into each other.
He's been building toward this for a while. He won the annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, a contest that produced previous finalists like Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey, and he was runner-up in the Moth's largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. He's also a bestselling writer. On the comedy side, he recorded his debut special Documented for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019, followed by Cultural Appreciation in 2022 and the award-winning Shelf Help in 2025. His work has appeared on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, RTE's Late Late Show, The Irish Independent, Inc, NPR, and the LA Times. His videos have gathered more than a billion views, and he has a social following of over two million people.
