Illustrated lecture by Dr. James Glass on architecture in Egypt at The Columbia Club.
Dr. James Glass is bringing a lecture on architecture in Egypt to The Columbia Club on Monday, November 9. It's an illustrated talk, so you'll be seeing the buildings he's talking about as he goes, which is the only way to really make sense of Egyptian architecture anyway. If you've ever spent an afternoon scrolling through photos of the pyramids or the temples at Luxor and wondered how they actually fit together, this is exactly the kind of thing that fills in those gaps.
Glass is the one leading the whole thing, and the focus is architecture in Egypt—the way they built, the styles they used, and the history that left its mark on the landscape. Because it's illustrated, you won't have to rely on your own mental images of the Nile Valley; the slides will do the heavy lifting, letting you see the details of the structures as he walks through them. It's a straightforward setup: one speaker, one subject, and a screen to show you what he's talking about.

The lecture is held at The Columbia Club, at 121 Monument Circle, right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. If you're already in the city for work or just hanging around the circle, it's an easy spot to get to. The doors open at 5:30 PM, and the lecture itself starts at 6:00 PM, so there's a half-hour window to settle in before Glass begins. If you're coming from across town, that buffer gives you a little breathing room to find parking and get inside without rushing. The whole thing is on Monday, November 9, at The Columbia Club, 121 Monument Circle.
