Adult book discussion of 'The Art Thief' by Michael Finkel at the Lawrence Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library.
The Lawrence Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library is hosting an Adult Book Discussion on Tuesday, November 17, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This month's pick is The Art Thief by Michael Finkel, a non-fiction account of one of the largest art heists in history. If you've been meaning to read it, this is a good excuse to finally finish it and talk it through with a group.
It's part of a larger series the library runs across the city. The Indianapolis Public Library puts on several in-person and online book discussions every month, covering both fiction and non-fiction, so if this particular title doesn't grab you, there are usually other groups meeting around the same time. They've also got a 'Book Club in a Bag' program that ships ten copies of the same title along with discussion questions, which is a handy way to start your own group if you've got a circle of friends who read.
For younger readers, the library keeps things moving with the Teen Central Manga Book Club and the 'Bodies in the Library' mystery club, which meets in the Special Collections Room. And if you prefer to talk books online, there's the 'Currently Reading' Facebook group and the Indy Now Book Club on Fox59.

The Lawrence Branch itself has a bit of history. It first opened in 1967 on North Franklin Road in a storefront that used to be the Lawrence Post Office, making it the first branch to open within an incorporated town in Marion County. A larger, permanent 13,500-square-foot facility opened in 1983 on a 3.44-acre site, and the branch was renovated in 2020, which added group study and tutoring areas, better lighting, more charging outlets, and updated interiors. You'll find it at 7898 Hague Road, Indianapolis, IN 46256. The discussion runs from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 17.
