Cooking demonstration, tasting and chef talk with Adeena Sussman about her cookbook Zariz, closing the 28th Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts.
Adeena Sussman brings her cooking and her new book to the Arthur M. Glick JCC on Tuesday, November 17, for an evening of food, demos, and a chef talk. The book is Zariz: 100 Easy, Breezy, Tel Aviv-y Recipes, and the night is built around it: Sussman will be in the kitchen showing how she puts those recipes together, and then she'll sit down for a conversation about the food and the city that inspired it. Asya Kislyuk will moderate the discussion.
The evening serves as the closing event for the 28th Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts, which runs from October 25 to November 17 at JCC Indianapolis. The festival started as a one-week book fair and grew into a full cultural arts program in 2000 when Irwin 'Irv' Katz began making a significant annual contribution. It was renamed to honor his wife, Ann, an inveterate reader. Irv served as president of the JCC board of directors from 1950-52 and 1958-61, during the move and construction of the organization's current 24,000-square-foot facility.
This year's edition brings together authors, filmmakers, artists, performers, and culinary talent around themes like history, identity, pets, food, and the rituals that connect us. The festival is made possible by the Irwin and Ann Katz Cultural Arts and Education Endowment Fund, with major sponsors including The Herbert Simon Family Foundation, Lilly Endowment Inc., Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, and Katz Sapper & Miller.
