A storytelling and music performance bringing the stories and songs of Southern Appalachia to the Indiana History Center.
Michael Reno Harrell and Josh Goforth bring A Blue Ridge Christmas to the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center on Saturday, December 5, from 7 to 8:30 PM. It's a night of stories and songs from Southern Appalachia, presented by Storytelling Arts of Indiana as part of their 2026-2027 Signature Series.
Harrell and Goforth both have roots that go back several generations in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and that's where the evening draws its material. They'll share the region's heritage through the stories and songs of the mountains at Christmas, taking the audience back to a time of community feasts and candles in the window. It's the kind of program that works as well for families as it does for anyone with a soft spot for roots music and old-school storytelling.
Storytelling Arts of Indiana has been around for a while. It was incorporated in 1987 as Stories, Inc. by Nancy Barton, Ellen Munds, and Bob Sander, and it's been bringing storytellers to Hoosier audiences for more than 30 years, staging more than 140 events every year. Their mission is to enrich, connect, and entertain through the art and experience of storytelling, with professional performances, youth and senior outreach, historical storytelling programs, and community storytelling events. A Blue Ridge Christmas fits right into thatโa professional performance that's also open to families.
