Concert by the Houston-based Americana duo Wild Rabbit Salad at Exodus Bar and Grill.
Wild Rabbit Salad play Exodus Bar and Grill on Saturday, October 17, starting at 6 PM. It's a Houston-based Americana duo run by Bucky Goldberg and Marietta Roebuck, who are partners both professionally and personally. Their sound pulls from a wide range of influences, from Howe Gelb and Bruce Springsteen to Townes Van Zandt, and they've put out four albums to date.
Their latest, Trouble in Town (REGI Music), includes two Townes Van Zandt covers, so you'll likely hear some of that songwriter's work alongside their own. Critics have called them one of the great under-the-radar Americana duos, and they describe their own vibe as relaxed and charming, mixing southern rock with classical chops. That classical side is something you don't always find in an Americana act, and it's a good part of why they stand out from the usual singer-songwriter fare.
If you're not familiar with them, it's a good place to start. They're a local duo, so this is one of those Houston acts you can actually catch around town rather than waiting for a tour to roll through. The set will be just the two of them, Goldberg and Roebuck, playing the Americana they've built their name on.
