Heavy metal and metalcore bands August Burns Red, Underoath, Atreyu and Emery perform live at Bayou Music Center as part of Underoath's 20th Anniversary Tour.
August Burns Red play Bayou Music Center on Wednesday, December 16, as part of a four-band bill that includes Underoath, Atreyu, and Emery. The show is part of Underoath's Define the Great Line 20th Anniversary Tour, which celebrates the gold-certified 2006 album. Keyboardist Chris Dudley said that record gave the band permission to be themselves and sent them around the world.
August Burns Red are a five-piece heavy metal band from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formed in 2003 out of marathon jam sessions on a farm belonging to drummer Matt Greiner's family. The current lineup is John 'JB' Brubaker on lead guitar, Brent Rambler on rhythm guitar, Matt Greiner on drums, Jake Luhrs on lead vocals, and Dustin Davidson on bass. They've been nominated for a GRAMMY twice. In 2015, Found In Far Away Places debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, and the single 'Identity' earned a nod for Best Metal Performance. Their 2022 album Phantom Anthem, released on Fearless Records, continued the same intensity they've been known for.
With Underoath, Atreyu, and Emery on the same bill, the night brings together four names from the same era of heavy music. The tour centers on Underoath playing Define the Great Line in full, two decades after it came out.
