An intimate 90-minute close-up magic show featuring illusions, audience interaction and magic-themed cocktails in a five-star setting.
Theatre of Magic is playing at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown on Saturday, October 10, with two more dates to follow on Saturday, October 31 and Saturday, November 21. All three shows start at 7:30 PM.
It's a 90-minute close-up show created by Australian celebrity magician Christopher Wayne, and he pitches it as an up-close-and-personal alternative to the traditional magic show. Instead of illusions played out on a distant stage with curtains and wings, the impossible happens right before your eyes in a small venue. The performance blends mind-bending illusions—levitation and mind-reading among them—with audience interaction and a dash of comedy, all backed by magic-themed cocktails and five-star hospitality. It's the kind of show where you're close enough to see the tricks happen rather than watching them from the back of a theater.
It's a well-regarded production, too. It won a 2025 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award and is ranked among the top 10% of experiences worldwide, with 4.7/5 star reviews. If you're bringing a group, it's recommended for ages 8 and older, and the dress code is smart casual. The venue is ADA compliant.
