A screening of the 2023 horror comedy 'Haunted Mansion' at the iconic Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston.
Miller Outdoor Theatre is screening Haunted Mansion on Saturday, October 31, as part of its Movies At Miller series. It's a Halloween night showing, so the timing fits the bill. The film is the 2023 horror comedy directed by Justin Simien and written by Katie Dippold, and it's based on Disney's theme park ride.
If you've never seen it, the story follows Gabbie, a widowed doctor who moves into a grand but suspiciously affordable New Orleans mansion with her young son, Travis. They soon discover they aren't alone in the house and have to put together a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to clear out the supernatural squatters. It's packed with Easter eggs and nods to the original ride, and the cast is a big one: LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Jared Leto also appears as the iconic Hatbox Ghost.
Watching it at Miller is a different experience than catching it on a TV at home. The theatre is Houston's iconic outdoor stage, and it keeps its performances free through gifts and contributions to the Miller Theatre Advisory Board, Inc. Covered seating is first-come, first-served, and the shows go on rain or shine, so it's a good idea to arrive early if you want a spot under the roof.
