Iconic Broadway

Houston Musical Theater Company brings Iconic Broadway to MATCHBOX 1 on Thursday, October 29, at 7:30 PM. It's a musical revue built around some of the biggest show-stopping songs from Broadway's most memorable shows, so if you've got a long list of theater favorites, there's a good chance a few of them will turn up here.

The setlist pulls from a wide range of eras and styles. You'll hear from the big classics like Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Guys & Dolls, My Fair Lady, Hello Dolly!, Oklahoma!, Gypsy, Fiddler on the Roof, and South Pacific. Mixed in are the modern hits like Wicked, The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, and Les Misérables, along with Cabaret, Evita, The Producers, Sunset Boulevard, CATS, and Cabaret. It's a broad sweep of the Broadway canon, from the Golden Age to the current hits, all in one evening.

The show runs two hours with one intermission. It's being held in MATCHBOX 1, one of the two flexible black box spaces at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center (MATCH) at 3400 Main St. It's the smaller of the two, with moveable seating risers and an adjustable capacity that can be set up for end stage, thrust, arena, or fully cleared layouts. All MATCH theaters are ADA compliant and offer assisted listening systems.

Tickets are $25 for reserved seating, plus a $5 Box Office Support fee per ticket. The box office opens two hours before the curtain, and online sales close 30 minutes before it, so if you're buying your tickets online, you'll want to have them sorted well before 7:30 PM.
