Houston's original outdoor art market featuring dozens of visual artists, live music, and local food vendors in the Historic Houston Heights.
First Saturday Arts Market kicks off its October edition on Saturday, October 10, at 540 W. 19th Street in the Historic Houston Heights. It's one of the city's oldest outdoor art markets, running since March 2004 and now in its 22nd season. It actually predates the outdoor popup trend that's become so common across the country, though it does one thing differently: the focus is on visual arts rather than retail.
Each month brings together dozens of artists showing painting, sculpture, photography, and jewelry. Singer-songwriters often play live throughout the day, and the grounds themselves are home to local art, including a mural by Ruben Rojas titled A love letter for Houston. For more than two decades, it's been a cornerstone of the city's art scene, pairing emerging and established names in a casual, open-air setting where they can meet collectors and enthusiasts. Regular fixtures like Houston Cider Company and Vivre Coffee Collective are usually there too.
