A flamenco-jazz fusion night featuring Arte Puro's Flamenco-Jazz Trio and flamenco dancer Ana María Barceló at the historic Tower Theatre.
Arte Puro brings El Swing: An Evening of Flamenco Jazz to Doc's Houston on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:30 PM. The night features the Arte Puro Flamenco-Jazz Trio and flamenco dancer Ana María Barceló, and it's built around the intersection of flamenco and jazz.
The show traces how Andalusian jazz, shaped by figures like Pedro Iturralde and Paco de Lucía, evolved into the flamenco-jazz of today. The Spanish call it el swing or duende—the point where the rhythm takes over and the feeling comes through music that seems to have no end. That's the core of the night: the fire and feel of flamenco meeting the dynamics and freshness of jazz.
