Pop-punk band Bowling for Soup performs at the House of Blues Houston, with support from Ballyhoo! and Rosecoloredworld.
Bowling for Soup play the House of Blues Houston on Thursday, November 5, with Ballyhoo! and Rosecoloredworld opening. It's a pop-punk bill, and the headliners are Texas natives — they formed in Denton back in 1994 from the remains of an old metal band. Frontman Jaret Reddick has said they set out to make "happy music," and they've built their following on humorous lyrics, upbeat guitar riffs, and Reddick's distinctive voice.
Most people know them from the 2002 single "Girl All The Bad Guys Want," from Drunk Enough to Dance, which earned a 2003 Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo. Then there's "1985," originally written by Mitch Allan of SR-71 and released in 2004 on A Hangover You Don't Deserve. Both are the kinds of songs that usually get the whole room singing along, and they're the ones that put the band on the map.
They're sharing the bill with Ballyhoo! and Rosecoloredworld, so there are three acts to work through before the night is done. The show is billed as all ages, which means you can bring younger fans along if you're coming with a crowd. There's also a VIP meet-and-greet upgrade available if you want to say hello to the band.
