The Who's Tommy

Theatre Under the Stars brings The Who's Tommy to The Hobby Center from February 2 to 14, 2027. It's a rock opera that started with The Who themselves in 1969, and it's widely credited with changing the course of music history. The story follows young Tommy Walker, who retreats inward after witnessing a murder and stays that way until an innate knack for pinball catapults him from a reticent adolescent to a celebrity saviour. Along the way, you'll hear anthems like "Pinball Wizard."

This production is based on the book by Des McAnuff and Pete Townshend, with music and lyrics by Townshend and additional music and lyrics by John Entwistle and Keith Moon. Des McAnuff also directs, with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision by Ron Melrose. The show runs an hour and 40 minutes with no intermission, and it's recommended for ages 16 and up.

Tickets start at $47, which you can get online or by calling 713-558-8887. If you're planning to see more than one show, 6-show packages start at $34 per show. There are also $35 rush tickets available at the box office. The production runs in Sarofim Hall at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby St, Houston, TX 77002.
