An evening of outdoor West Coast Swing dancing held under the Waterfront Gazebo, welcoming all skill levels to enjoy music and dancing by the sea.
West Coast Swing returns to the Waterfront Gazebo this Friday, September 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. It's the final night of a summer series that's been running since June, so if you've been meaning to drop by all season, this is the one to catch.
The Gazebo sits at the bottom of Morris Street on the Halifax waterfront boardwalk, and the view from under it is a good part of the draw. You're looking out over George's Island, with ships, sailboats and kayaks drifting past and people fishing off the dock. As the sun sets, the sea breeze comes in, and the dancing happens right there in the open air. The organisers lay down vinyl flooring for the night, so if you're coming to dance, bring flat shoes.
On the music, DJ Spacebar is on the decks with guest DJ friends joining in. It's an evening of West Coast Swing, but it's not just for the regulars. The night welcomes everyone, even if you've never tried the dance before, so you can just come for the music and the atmosphere. You'll find local Westies, visitors and dancers from other styles all in the same spot.

This is the last date of a run that's been going since June 12, with sessions on June 19 and 26, July 10, 17 and 24, August 7, 14, 21 and 28, and September 4. It's free to attend, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Waterfront Gazebo.
