Tuesday Night Jazz

Tuesday Night Jazz runs every Tuesday at The Economy Shoe Shop in downtown Halifax, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It's held in the basement of the shop on Argyle Street, and there's no cover charge.

The Tuesday sessions grew as an alternative to the venue's Wednesday Gin and Jazz night, drawing a crowd that prefers to sit down and listen more closely. It's an intimate downtown setting where sit-ins are welcome alongside the head act, so if you play, you might find yourself on stage.

The trio has played together since 2023, though the musicians have known each other much longer. The band's name comes from the bassist, whose broken ankle in Grade 12 led to a gap year in which he discovered he wanted to pursue music as a career. That's the kind of detail that fits the room — a small, basement space where the music stays close to the people listening.

It runs every Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at The Economy Shoe Shop in the basement on Argyle Street, with no cover charge.
